About the event

This workshop will be a training for all urban growers in and around the Twin Cities. Three experienced farmers will discuss selecting appropriate crops and seed varieties, building soil health, irrigation systems, high tunnels, and other low-cost infrastructure to help growers succeed. They will also discuss possibilities for funding urban ag improvements through federal farm programs.


The co-hosts for this event are Nura Ahmed, of Kilimo Farms, and Hannah Lewis, of Renewing the Countryside. Both are trained Connectors with Go Farm Connect, experienced in helping other farmers connect with USDA farm programs and staff. Lachelle Cunningham, Frogtown Farm Executive Director and Keanue Driscoll-Cherland, Frogtown Farm Manager, will talk about assistance and services the farm can provide to growers who lease land there. They will also take suggestions for what would be helpful for spring growing success.
